The brief was to create a colourful border that would provide interest all year round. The border is SE facing and narrow - 1.5 metres at the deepest point. The challenge was to create some symmetry and colour in the border and to make it appear more generous in size .
I reduced the variety of planting, used existing and well loved shrubs like Euonymus and Spiraea as a framework and then added sun loving perennials that I know give long periods of flower, to allow less space taken for maximum effect. No contractors used.
